You're Built to Break the Cycle

At Breaking The Cycle Therapy, we believe healing begins with understanding. Our team creates a safe, supportive space where clients can explore emotions, build insight, and develop tools to break harmful cycles and embrace growth.

Led by Dr. Alan Heide, our practice integrates 12-step recovery, clinical expertise, and a deep respect for each client’s journey. We work with individuals, couples, families, and children and offer you personalized support that works toward delivering real change in your life.

This Is Why We Care

Fueled by Strength and Surrender

Dr. Alan Heide didn’t enter the field as a polished clinician; he walked through struggle, legal trouble, and personal transformation before ever picking up a textbook. His lived experience with addiction, recovery, and self-redemption is the foundation of this entire practice.

After turning his life around, Dr. Heide pursued degrees in psychology and built a practice rooted in 12-step recovery, transparency, and honesty. What began as a solo mission now supports countless individuals and families through therapy, education, and one of the region’s most respected mental health podcasts.

It offers the opportunity to focus solely on your needs, allowing for personalized attention and tailored strategies that resonate with your individual circumstances,
  1. Individuals Facing Life Transitions: Whether you’re navigating major changes such as career shifts, relationship changes, or the loss of a loved one, individual therapy can offer support as you adjust and find new paths forward.

  2. People Struggling with Mental Health Issues: If you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health conditions, our therapists are trained to help you process your emotions, develop coping strategies, and work toward recovery.

At Breaking The Cycle, we prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can express yourself freely. Here’s what you can expect from your individual therapy sessions:

  1. Initial Assessment: During your first session, your therapist will conduct an assessment to understand your background, current challenges, and therapy goals. This helps establish a personalized approach tailored to your noods.

  2. Goal Setting: Together with your therapist, you will identify specific goals for your therapy journey. This collaborative effort ensures that the focus remains on what matters most to you.

  3. Therapeutic Techniques: Our therapists utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and other modalities suited to your needs. These techniques are designed to help you better understand your thoughts and behaviors while providing actionable tools for change.

  4. Ongoing Support: As you progress through therapy, your therapist will provide ongoing support and encouragement. We believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship,

which often becomes a source of strength and motivation for individuals on their paths to healing.

For those affected by the family disease of addiction whether directly or indirectly-our individual therapy sessions can be particularly beneficial. Understanding how addiction impacts you personally, along with your relationships, is vital for healing. We aim to:

  • Educate You About the Impact of Addiction: Our therapists can help you unpack how addiction has affected your emotional health and your relationship with loved ones.

  • Develop Healthy Coping Strategies: Exploring effective ways to cope with feelings of anxiety, anger, or sadness often associated with the consequences of addiction can lead to a more resilient mindset.

  • Rebuild Your Sense of Self: During this process, we focus on helping you rediscover your identity and build self-esteem, which is crucial for murturing independence and personal fulfillment.
